Common Name: Corn Snake
Scientific Name: Elaphe g. guttata
Characteristics: A docile snake with weakly keeled scales.
Habitat: Found most commonly on farmlands.
Size: Can reach 6 feet in length.
Indentifying Marks: Red dorsal blotches outlined in black against a light brown background.
Diet: Small rodents.
Breeding: Around 10-15 small white eggs are deposited each year.

Pet Potential: Corn snakes are the main snake in the pet trade and come in many different colors. Their relative ease in keeping makes them a great beginner snake for amateur pet owners and most have no problem accepting thawed mice.
